CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Browns coaching search could soon come to a head.
According to various media reports, Bills’ defensive coordinator Mike Pettine will come to Cleveland for a third interview. The search has come down to a pair of candidates, according to ESPN.
Pettine appears to be the favorite after his four-hour interview on Tuesday night in Alabama.
Seattle’s defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn, has had one interview. But Quinn is heavily involved with his team’s preparations, and it’s unlikely he flies to Cleveland Thursday. It has been reported he would get a second interview, but that has not been scheduled.
The Browns brass was reportedly in Florida to conduct an interview with former Tampa Bay coach Greg Schiano, but sources say he’s unlikely to be the next coach.
At any rate, it’s very possible the Browns search will be concluded before the four-week mark, since the Dec. 29 firing of Rob Chudzinski.
