BEREA, Ohio — The Browns took the field Saturday for their final practice before Monday’s exhibition game with Washington.
Of course, all eyes were on the quarterback position where Brian Hoyer and Johnny Manziel are battling to be the starter.
Hoyer will open Monday night’s game, but Manziel is expected to get plenty of action with the first team.
Both quarterbacks talked about the competition.
“‘I don’t think that I’m ready for Pittsburgh right now. I’ve only played one game, but the more and more you see it, the more you get familiar with it, I think the better it will be,” said Manziel.
“I think the best quarterback should play regardless of the situation. It’s a situation I dealt with last year when I came in and we kind of said it was a week to week thing. For me, I just want to be the starting quarterback of this team whatever the situation is,” said Hoyer.
