CLEVELAND– The Browns added a second free agent to the 2013 roster on Tuesday night when they signed defensive tackle Desmond Bryant, the former Oakland Raider.  The signing was first reported by Albert Breer of NFL.com.

Bryant gets a five-year deal worth $34 million, with $15 million guaranteed.  Between Bryant and Paul Kruger, signed just after the free agency period opened, the team committed 74 million dollars to a pair of players to upgrade their defense.

Bryant, 27, was called the best tackle on the market and the Browns will add him to the already crowded defensive line rotation. Bryant registered 4 sacks last year in Oakland as he started 8 of 16 games.

Where the Browns are banking on Bryant is to see him disrupt the quarterback. He was among the best in the league in pressuring the quarterback.

Bryant did get in some trouble in Florida a few weeks ago when he was arrested on charges on criminal mischief.

That incident by the Harvard University product did not raise any red flag in Berea as the team forges ahead in free agency.

It’s believed he will be introduced to the media on Thursday.
