CLEVELAND — The Browns have parted company with reserve quarterback Thad Lewis, a league source confirmed to Fox 8 Sports on Wednesday night.
This was not a shocker in the least. The Browns had signed Cleveland St. Ignatius graduate Brian Hoyer to a two-year deal just under a week ago and he is expected to back up starter Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell.
Lewis started the 2012 season finale Dec. 30 at Pittsburgh and completed 22-of-32 passes for 204 yards, a touchdown and an interception in the Browns’ 24-10 loss to the Steelers.
Lewis was signed in 2010 by the St. Louis Rams as an undrafted free agent.
