BEREA, Ohio — 49 Rookies participated in their first NFL football practice in Berea as the Browns opened up Rookie mini-camp Friday. Among the group was the sixth overall draft pick in last month’s NFL Draft, Barkevious Mingo.

“He looked pretty fast to me so he moved around the field pretty well and he really picks things up well and that’s the thing that stood out to me,” said Browns head coach, Rob Chudzinski.

Mingo continues to be scrutinized for his size, his current weight is listed at 240 pounds. Chudzinski said players will be given target weights to hit for training camp.

“Whatever they ask me to do, I’ll do,” said Mingo. “As far as how much, it doesn’t really matter, I can hold a pretty good bit and still be effective.”

The other guy drawing plenty of interest on day one of rookie mini-camp was the seventh round draft pick Armonty Bryant. He said he was concerned that maybe things wouldn’t work out with the Browns after his recent arrest.

“I’m just fortunate the Browns still have faith in me and this organization,” Bryant said.
“Hopefully I’ll be able to make a spot on this 53-man roster.”

Bryant met with Chudzinski about his recent arrest and said he is locking himself in his room playing video games and studying the playbook.
